.--Welcome: Why Am I Obese?
|
 |
You should know that being overweight is not your fault. It
does not have to do with lack of discipline, laziness or the way you were
fed during infancy and childhood. There have been studies of identical twins
who despite being separated from their parents and natural environment,
their weights remained similar even after many years of living apart. In the
same family, siblings growing-up with a similar diet and environment, one
may be overweight while another may be of normal weight. The present data
indicates that certain individuals have a genetic predisposition towards
obesity. This is the reason why diets fail. Contributing to the worsening
problem of obesity in this country is the superabundance of food, poor
dietary habits and our sedentary lifestyle.
